The final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 between India and Sri Lanka became a one-sided affair as India’s all-round show – both with bat and ball form an ultimate title winning number. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India won the toss and opted to bat first, riding on a splendid 183/5 in 20 overs.
Thanks to an unbeaten 129-run opening stand, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana anchored it with fine half-centuries. Shafali 68 (39), Mandhana 59 (39) India ended strongly to reach 183/5.
Sri Lanka were chasing a target of 184 which they never looked comfortable doing against the sharp and disciplined Indian bowling unit. Captain Chamari Athapaththu made 36 runs, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Shree Charani took 4 for 20, and Deepti Sharma collected 3 for 19. Sri Lanka were all out for 111 in 20 overs eventually.
Hence, India went on to win the finals by 72 runs and became the Women’s Asia Cup winners for a record-extending eighth time.

The home side started off brilliantly after being put into bat earlier. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana went after the Sri Lankan bowlers from the outset and put in place the match’s most critical partnership.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana Set Up India’s Big Total
An innings dominated by Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana at the start of India’s innings.
With this, the duo added 129 runs and Sri Lanka came under pressure in the first half of the innings. Shafali scored runs with an aggressive strike rate of 174.36; her innings went for 68 from just 39 balls. Just like her, Mandhana supported the innings with a controlled 59 off 39 balls.
Shafali hit nine fours and two sixes in her innings, while Mandhana hit five fours and three sixes.
At the 13th over, Shafali was able to put up 129 runs but was dismissed while Mandhana left soon after as India sat at 132.

Sri Lanka’s Chase
Sri Lankans began with the daunting cue of chasing down 184 runs from 20 overs. They lost Imesha Dulani for no runs with just four runs on the board to get their innings underway.
Athapaththu and then Vishmi Gunaratne attempted to rebuild the innings. The duo added 58 runs for the second wicket and raised Sri Lanka’s hope for a while.
But Deepti Sharma removed both batters in the 10th over, breaking what had been a strong opening partnership. Sri Lanka never had the same impetus with the bat after that.
Nilakshika Silva added only 22 in 16 both but the lower order could not support her much. Then, Shree Charani wrapped up with four wickets as the Sri Lankans were bowled out for 111.

India Women Win the Women’s Asia Cup 2026
India was dominant in the final, playing as a complete team. An experienced opening pair was seen giving the team a good platform and that aided to provide India with Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, while the lower middle order pushed on for 183.
Their bowlers then ensured that Sri Lanka stayed nowhere near the total. Shree Charani before that had a stunning four wickets haul whereas Deepti Sharma three wickets, helped India bowl out Sri Lanka for just 111.
India’s 72-run win took their Women’s Asia Cup title haul to eight, further extending the record for the most successful team in the competition.
