Have India announced their 15-man squads for the ODI & T20I squads against West Indies, as Dhir & Hanabi’s first ODI call-ups? Ravindra Jadeja is also back in the ODI setup for India after being out of the format since January: as a part of his recovery protocol post ankle surgery, he was rested from the three-match ODI series.
Jadeja played his last ODI for India in January this year against New Zealand. His return will provide the team with an all-round option over the series. Dhir, meanwhile, makes the cut after performing impressively in domestic T20 cricket.
The right-hand batsman scored 655 runs at an average of 109.12 in 10 matches during the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League ASHOK PAVAGADIA The 173 was his highest score in the tournament. Dhir was first picked for the Australia A one-day series but has now been handed an opportunity within India’s ODI framework.
While Dhir has been called at middle order Dhitendra Gaikwad is also in the line. Shreyas Iyer, who is captaining India T20I team at the Asian Games will be available after India’s responsibility in Games is over.
Reserve Wicketkeeper: Dhruv Jurel (India) (Behind KL Rahul.) This move provides India extra cover in the wicketkeeping department for the West Indies series.
Also given his first one day international call up is Auqib Nabi, who was also included in India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour. But the pacer is still to make his debut on any international level. He will be included in a pace attack alongside pacers Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar.
Due to the continued unavailability of Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been released from the Asian Games squad and added to the ODI team. Pandya, meanwhile, is still awaiting clearance from the Centre of Excellence regarding his fitness.
Five T20Is will then follow the three-match ODI series, starting on October 6. In addition to him, the T20I squad also includes Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav – who made their international debuts during India’s T20I tour of Zimbabwe earlier this year.
Jasprit Bumrah, who made his return to action in the current T20I series against Afghanistan, has not found a place in either side for the West Indies series.
