Litton Das Ruled Out of Remaining Zimbabwe ODIs, Bangladesh Call Up Parvez Hossain Emon

Litton Das

Bangladesh have been dealt a huge blow in their ODI series against Zimbabwe, with wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das being ruled out of the remainder of the matches following an injury to his left calf.

Litton was originally scheduled to miss just the first ODI on July 6. But a further fitness test this week led the club’s medic staff to rule him out of competitive action just yet. Consequently, he will play no further role in the series and his rehabilitation would continue in Dhaka.

Bangladesh called up Parvez Hossain Emon to replace Litton for the 2nd and 3rd ODIs, in a move that bolsters their squad.

Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan added, playing Litton has not progressed as the team have hoped. However the medical team deemed him unfit as he did not pass a fitness test during his recent evaluation, leaving little chance of him recovering for back-to-back fixtures that follow in quick succession.

Bangladesh are already trailing 0-1 in the series after losing the first ODI against Zimbabwe, a result that came as a blow to them ahead of this injury.

Bangladesh will have to win the second ODI, which is set to take place in Harare on July 9 for them to stay alive in the race of winning one or two ODIs from the series.
