MI New York (MINY) come into the 2026 Major League Cricket season full of confidence and hungry for what would be their third championship crown. The reigning champions have made a habit of causing extreme stress and believing that none is unrecoverable.
The flagship IPL side of the Mumbai Indians have faltered but MI New York has been the demonstration of that fighting spirit of the franchise. It was reflected in MLC, where their showings exude the resilience and determination that has long been associated with the Mumbai Indians brand.
Last season, MINY pulled off one of the all-time great turnarounds in league history. After winning only once in their first seven games, they seemed done for. Not many expected they could come back after such a terrible beginning. The team hung on and somehow made the playoffs against all odds.

Monank Patel, the USA captain, was instrumental in his team’s success and solidified his role as one of the tournament’s leading players. Monank had impressed with his first MLC half-century in the last edition, and built on that by considerably stepping up his performing to claim a breakthrough season many were predicting over 2 months ago.
MI New York, again young but with titles under their belts, a never-say-die spirit and an interesting mix of global stars and local talent, will look to start afresh as the new season gets under way.
