West Indies 1st Innings: 295/7
After winning the toss, India captain Shubman Gill opted to bowl and West Indies were asked to bat first. The visitors enjoyed a brilliant start, John Campbell and Justin Greaves putting together 135 runs for the opening wicket. Campbell belted 62 off just 60 deliveries, while Greaves went on to complete a maiden ODI century.
But Kuldeep Yadav was the one who turned the tide for India. He sent back Campbell and dealt with well-known names Shai Hope, Jewel Andrew and Greaves later — ending up with figures of 4/40 from his 10 overs. West Indies responded with 295/7 in their 50 overs.

India Chase: 300/2 in 41.4 Overs
India began the chase positively. India posted 70 runs at the end of the powerplay, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting on a partnership of 74 for the first wicket. Before he was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph, Rohit scored 32 off 35 balls.
Gill then partnered with Virat Kohli, and both were in complete command of the chase. They put on 151 runs for the second wicket. While Gill eventually was out for 110, Kohli remained unbeaten and saw India home with Ruturaj Gaikwad.
India chased down the total, reaching 300/2 in just 41.4 overs to achieve an eight-wicket victory with 50 balls remaining.

Virat Kohli’s Record-Breaking Knock
The biggest source of attraction in India’s successful chase is Virat Kohli. Playing just his third ODI, he made 139 not out from 88 balls including 10 fours and 9 sixes (SR: 157.95).
As per the match stats, Kohli was the second batter to touch 15000 ODI runs during the innings and also had his 55th ODI hundred. It was also his most sixes in an ODI innings, nine.
The 53 runs that he scored against Alzarri Joseph was also his highest ODI score against that bowler.

Shubman Gill’s Century
Contributing heavily with the bat also was India captain Shubman Gill. He scored 110 runs off the back of 108 balls, featuring 13 fours and one six.
The Rohit Sharma dismissal had altered the scenario completely but his partnership with Kohli changed things. Match commentary of Cricbuzz indicates Gill crafted his century, the seventh fifty-plus score in nine ODIs for him in 2026.
Justin Greaves’ Maiden ODI Century
Justin Greaves of West Indies was the highest run scorer. He scored 101 off 108 balls and hit 12 fours.
Greaves and Campbell attacked India first with their 135-run opening stand. West Indies chipped away at wickets through the middle-overs as they could not take their total past 295 – Greaves’ century ultimately going in vain.
Kuldeep Yadav Player of the Match
Kuldeep Yadav, who bowled well with the figures of 4/40 in 10 overs and including one maiden was awarded Player Of The Match.
The spell was especially crucial as West Indies were 135/0 at one point, after the opening partnership. Kuldeep was already getting into the act by removing Campbell to start India’s comeback and then he sent down a slew of top-order batters after that.

India 300/2 (41.4 overs) won by 8 wickets It was West Indies that got off to the better start with the bat, but Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul made sure the visitors could not build on their opening stand for bigger runs.
India’s response was based around lots of runs from Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, both scored centuries. Kohli’s 139 not out was made even more special as it included his ODI milestone of reaching 15,000 runs and also scored his 55th ODI century along with a record nine sixes in an innings in ODIs.
