India A: (from) Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Krunal Pandya, Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Siraj, Yuvraj Chahal, Mukesh Chowdhary Ashok Sharma For the ongoing one-day tri-series in Sri LankaIndia made a last-minute change to their squad for the ongoing one-day tro-series promising fast bowler Ashok Sharma has replaced injured pacerYudhvir Singh. This is after shoulder injury for Yudhvir, who had been ruled out and now required rehabilitation under the observation of BCI medical.
Yudhvir felt discomfort in his right shoulder during a training session on June 13, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir had also experienced discomfort while fielding on June 11. After consultations with specialists, medical experts diagnosed a right rotator cuff injury and prescribed an extensive rehab programme at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence to fully recover.
Yudhvir had not played in any of India A’s first three games of the tri-series, so replacing him makes sense with important matches ahead.
Cricket enthusiasts and selectors saw a spark with Ashok Sharma’s selection. The young paceman hit the headlines during IPL 2026 after bowling one of the fastest balls in the history of IPL at a flash time of 154.2 kilometres per hour. Playing for the Gujarat Titans, in six matches he took six wickets. His raw pace and wicket taking ability certainly caught the eye of experts, even if he was a tad expensive now and then with the ball.

Prior to this IPL season, Ashok has established himself as one of the emerging stars of domestic cricket. He became the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2025–26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, taking 22 wickets in ten matches. To consistently bowl those lengths in the first place and generate that speed plus movement off the pitch received widespread acclaim.
The 22-year-old has also recently acquired a move to Gujarat for the next domestic season shortly after his no-objection certificate was issued by the Rajasthan Cricket Association, where he had risen through the age-group system.
India A’s quest for a title has turned out to be frustrating in Dambulla where they have lost two of their three matches including an agonising Super Over defeat against the hosts, Sri Lanka. They will play Afghanistan A in their last league match on Wednesday, the final of the tournament is slated for Sunday.
With India A looking to end the series on a happier note, Ashok Sharma now has a chance to catch eye in the international pathway.
