Pakistan Women to Face Sri Lanka in Crucial White-Ball Series After T20 World Cup 

Captain Sidra NawazBismah Maroof will lead Pakistan Women on an important tour of Sri Lanka later this summer with the two sides to contest a six-match white-ball series right after the end of 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

Sri Lanka Cricket announced the tour which will see Sri Lanka playing three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and then three-match T20I series. The ODI leg is even more critical, as it has implications for the ICC Women’s Championship standings – but also because it lays the foundation for their performances in future international assignments.

All three ODIs will be part of the ongoing 2025-29 ICC Women’s Championship cycle, every point counting in the race for qualification to future global tournaments. Pakistan have made a great start to the competition and currently sit second in the table. It has already seen them amass eight points following four wins in their first six matches, with the side one of the early pace-setters.

Sri Lanka have performed really well in the championship as well sitting a close third behind Pakistan. The hosts have also won four of their six fixtures and collected eight points, just like their opponents. The ODI fixtures will also be highly competitive and pivotal, with both teams keen to improve their position on the standings.

The tour will comprises of six matches all taking place at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. The ODI series is set to take place on July 23, July 25 and July 28, allowing both teams to immediately continue their international campaigns following the World Cup.

Next will be a T20 focus, with matches set for July 31 as well as August 2 & 4. Such clashes will help both sides to find their feet and explore combinations ahead of upcoming T20 assignments.

Pakistan have a marginal advantage in T20I cricket. Pakistan and India have met 21 times in Women’s T20 Internationals and Pakistan has One 11 of these contests. Sri Lanka have nine wins with one match being abandoned.

With championship points on the line and an already tightly contested rivalry, this series adds another layer of interest and will prove to be a fascinating contest as two ambitious Asian sides continue to chase down success on the international stage.
